What is Buddhi-Manas? How might we understand the idea so that it comes alive for us?

Buddhi, also called the Spiritual Soul, is the sixth principle in our constitution, the vehicle for Atma or the Universal Spirit. Our thinking faculty (Mind) is either drawn by matter and passions or pulled by the Spirit. The former is kama – manas while the latter buddhi-manas. The mind becomes the spiritual Ego only when it unites with Buddhi. The light of the Spirit radiates the mind when the three (Atma / Buddhi/ Manas) becomes One. The sense of universality is one of salient qualities of Buddhi.

If we adhere to the idea that energy follows thought, the way anything comes alive is that we ponder on the idea, awakening and vitalizing it on the subtle planes, till we have direct experience. In the process, we learn to distinguish the energies in our nature and acquire discernment of the various forces that continually shape our state of mind.

So we give it life by thinking about it? How might we use the imagination to make the idea of Buddhi-Manas alive for us?
